I don’t need you but I want to
Wanna be underneath your thumb
I don’t mean to be so see-through
Wanna get in bed
I Wanna play with guns

Drag me over the bridge and through the park
into the dark
into the weeds
between two trees
and on my knees
and you drag me down down down down down down down
and you run me down down right into the ground

I don’t need you….

Waves are crashing in at 4 am wanna take a swim
into the woods
into the dark
Pacific Rim
And your diving down down down down down down down
and we are shivering on the cold ground

I don’t need you….

This is a funny song, and a serious request. I am hosting a good old-fashioned Brooklyn style rent party here on my blog. The money ran out. Gone. Gotta pay the rent. New job starts soon thank goodness, but this month is a mess. SO, can you help? If you are in a position to, you can become a monthly subscriber for $4 a month and get access to Mp3’s of all BloginSongs. If you would rather you can pay $5 and get my RENT album which features the best 10 songs (in my opinion) from the first year of BlogInSong. That is 50 cents a song!

If you can help, I need it. If you can’t help financially then make my day and leave a comment or forward this to your friends. Thank you for listening!

A BIG HUG AND THANKS to all my current Monthly Subscribers! Let me know if you have everything you need to download the songs!

I took a cab ride with Reverend Billy

I suggested the Starbucks Drive through

Billy was struck by a bolt from up above

And he got on his knees and prayed

He said save her

Save her

She’s a beautiful child of this world

She’s got one hand in the devils paw

The other on her credit card

Exorcise the demons from this girl

Billy was afire with the spirit from above

My body was a shakin’

Felt like I was cracking up

We came upon a wal mart store

I got that devils urge

So the Reverend held me down while I purged

He said save her

Save her

She’s a beautiful child of this world

She’s got one hand in the devils paw

The other on her credit card

Exorcise the demons from this girl

We raced across the city

To the Mercury Café

We ordered local cheeses

And some fair trade lattes

Billy held my fragile head

And fed me apple pie

And we sent those corporate coffee cups

Right back down to hell to fry

He said save her, save her

She’s a beautiful child of this world

She’s got one hand in the devils paw

The other in her money box

Exorcise the demons from this girl

So, how are you feeling about the Supreme Court rolling back restrictions on corporate spending on federal campaigns? I don’t feel very good. I don’t want a corporation, made up of many individuals and richer than God, controlling my choices. What do you think? Is there a way to limit corporate spending on federal campaigns fairly? Do corporations deserve constitutional protection…free speech? Help me out here, because this one is confusing and needs to be discussed!

I am re-posting this song originally posted in May of 2009. I read a devastating article this week in Westword Magazine which I will quote here and recommend that you read. See below for some ideas on what we can do to support our returning soldiers.

“In all, fifteen Fort Carson GIs have been arrested in connection with a dozen murders over the past five years. And these aren’t the only crimes linked with soldiers in Colorado Springs. Since 2005, the number of military personnel in the El Paso County jail has increased more than 25 percent, outpacing the population growth of soldiers and veterans in the region.

Besides the sheer number, there’s something else striking about the soldiers being arrested…. “For the most part, they were squeaky-clean prom kings. Then they enlist in the military and maybe do multiple combat tours, and they come back and commit violent offenses.”

Ft. Carson Colorado
The proud home of our 4th Infantry
The men that pulled Sadaam
out from his hole
Ft. Carson Colorado
Those brave souls of the 31st Dixie
Named after Kit, its the Army’s heart and soul

Ft. Carson’s Deadly Duty
Was the headline on the Sunday News
Now Ft. Carson’s pride is burdened by
Its finest Iron horses running wild

And the army said “some problems slipped right through the cracks’
I wonder what they meant by that
Did they mean the 9 soldiers
turned by war from men to fiends
Did they mean the 6 now dead and gone
Shot or stabbed and left to bleed alone

Ft. Carson’s Deadly Duty
Was the headline on the Sunday News
Now Ft. Carson’s pride is burdened by
Its finest Iron horses running wild

Its constant fear, adrenaline
Its what they are trained to do
Redeployed and torn up limb from limb
And then told to come on home and settle in
Ft. Carson sends ‘em over there
Prepared for every kind of terror
But Ft. Carson doesn’t comfort them back home

Lilly was workin’ hard
Hitting the plant floor every day
She learned every single job
It was Goodyear all the way
Everyone in Gadsden Alabama
Knew her very well
The lady Manager
The sweetest gal
The hardest worker

Then one day
She got a letter from a stranger
Exposing that her pay
Was waaaaaay less than what the guys were makin’
Means Lilly spent
Round 20 years
Getting less
Doing the same
Wasn’t there a law about that
Back in the day?

And Miss Lilly says
Might don’t make right
Whats good is good
I’m gonna fight, I’m gonna fight
And you can thank her
For your right to equal pay
Miss Lilly Ledbetter
Your Miss American Way!

Shake downs for sex
Back room cigarettes
Lilly never wanted
Any part of this
They backed the wrong gal
Up against a wall
And it took an act of Congress
But the wall came tumblin’ down

Hey Lilly Hey
Ginsberg had her back
Lilly had her faith
Y’all better get right with that
And pay attention
Don’t take one penny less
Might need to mention
Lilly Ledbetter Act

And Miss Lilly says
Might don’t make right
Whats good is good
I’m gonna fight, I’m gonna fight
And you can thank her
For your right to equal pay
Miss Lilly Ledbetter
